Punta Espada has once again secured a place among the leading golf courses in the region. The course located in Cap Cana ranked third in the latest list by Golfweek.
The ranking highlights the best golf courses across Mexico, the Caribbean, the Atlantic Islands and Central America. As Punta Espada approaches its second decade, the course continues to stand out as one of the most recognized golf destinations in the region.
The latest Punta Espada Golfweek ranking also confirms the course’s reputation among international golfers. Design quality, landscape integration and the overall playing experience are key elements considered in the list.
A course shaped by the landscape
Legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus designed Punta Espada with the natural geography of the Cap Cana coastline in mind.
As a result, the course maintains a constant relationship with the Caribbean Sea. Wide ocean views and several holes played directly along the water define the experience.
Over the years, these features have helped Punta Espada become one of the most recognized golf courses in the region.
Approaching two decades
Since opening in 2006, Punta Espada has evolved from a new addition within Cap Cana into one of the most admired courses among golfers visiting the Caribbean.
Today, the course continues to attract players from around the world. This year it prepares to celebrate its 20th anniversary, marking two decades of international recognition and consistent presence in global golf rankings.
In a sport where course design often defines a venue’s identity, Punta Espada has achieved something rare: it has remained relevant over time while continuing to be part of the global golf conversation.
