MICFootball Punta Cana 2026: The Future of Football Takes the Field in Cap Cana

In recent years, football has continued to gain momentum in the Dominican Republic. A clear example is the second edition of MICFootball Punta Cana, which returns to Cap Cana this week, bringing together some of the world’s most prestigious youth clubs and academies.

A tournament with history

Founded more than two decades ago on Spain’s Costa Brava, MICFootball has established itself as one of the world’s premier showcases for young football talent. Over the years, its pitches have welcomed players who would later become stars of the global game. Today, the tournament is widely recognized as a benchmark for elite youth football.

Cap Cana made history in 2025 by becoming the tournament’s first host venue outside of Spain. Since then, the destination has become part of the MICFootball international calendar, bringing one of the sport’s most respected youth competitions to the Caribbean.

An international showcase

This year, MICFootball Punta Cana returns to The Fields at Cap Cana Sports City. Over six days, more than 2,000 players, 113 teams, 64 clubs and representatives from 18 countries will compete in an environment that blends high-level competition, player development and cultural exchange.

Participating clubs and academies include internationally renowned names such as Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Atlético de Madrid, Inter Miami CF, River Plate, Club América, Olympique de Marseille and Santos FC, among others.

For many of these young footballers, the tournament offers a unique opportunity to test their skills against players from around the world while enjoying an international competitive experience.

Champions of the first edition

The inaugural edition of MICFootball Punta Cana set a high standard. Real Madrid (Spain) claimed the U12 title after defeating FC Barcelona in a final that captured the attention of fans and football enthusiasts alike.

In the remaining age groups, River Plate (Argentina) won the U13 title, LA Galaxy (United States) claimed the U14 championship, Inter Miami CF (United States) lifted the U15 trophy, and Santos FC (Brazil) finished as U16 champions.

More than a competition

Beyond the final results, the true value of MICFootball Punta Cana lies in the stories behind every player.

They all share the opportunity to experience an event that can mark a turning point in their development as footballers. For the second consecutive year, Cap Cana once again serves as the stage where that talent is showcased to the world.
