QS LATIN AMERICA UNIVERSITY RANKINGS 2019 RANKS UNIBE AS TOP UNIVERSITY IN THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC AND #122 OF LATAM

The Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE) was placed at the highest level among the Dominican universities and number 122 for Latin America according to the results of the recently published  QS Latin America University Rankings 2019.

 

By sharing the information, its dean, Dr. Julio Amado Castaños Guzmán, said that this assessment is highly relevant and is the result of work aligned with the strategic plan aimed at improving the quality of education in the center and which means an achievement for the national education system, since a small country like this exceeds universities in countries with a higher rate of development.

 

He emphasized that the last published assessment highlights that Unibe improved the position it has been occupying for the last five years in a valuation of more than 5,000 universities and ratifies it as the best valued in the Dominican Republic.

 

The QS Rankings of Universities is a world ranking developed by the Quacquarelli Symonds group, a recognized British institution specializing in higher education. The QS World University Rankings and their regional versions, such as the QS Ranking Latin America, are considered among the most prestigious and influential in the world.

 

To reflect on the level reached, authorities and UNIBE staff held a meeting headed by Dr. Castaños Guzmán and the directors, Odile Camilo, academic vice-rector; Grace Cochón, administrative vice-rector; Aída Mencía Ripley, dean of Research.

 

They explained that the indicators that measure the QS Ranking Latin America are the academic reputation of the institution, opinion of the employers, citations by published article, proportion of professors by student, professors with doctor degree, publications by academic, impact on the web and network international research

 

They highlighted that from the Laboratory of Neurocognition and Psychophysiology, the Institute of Tropical Medicine and Global Health, the Research Center in Biomaterials and Dentistry, the UNESCO Chair of Social and Academic Inclusion of People with Disabilities and Special Educational Needs, as well as from the different schools, research is carried out and published through projects carried out with national and international competitive funds.
