Espada–Barceló Wins the Cap Cana Polo Cup

Team Espada–Barceló secured a 5–4 victory over La Carmela in a match decided in the final chukker, after a game that remained evenly matched until the very end.

Rather than a wide margin, the outcome reflected the ability to sustain rhythm and execute at key moments.

A day defined by balance

The tournament followed a round-robin format, with three matches of six chukkas and a final extended to nine, raising the competitive intensity throughout the day.

The opening match between Espada–Barceló and Pitirri ended in a 4–4 tie after a closely contested game. Pitirri carried that same level into their match against La Carmela, which also ended without a clear advantage for either side.

That sustained balance throughout the afternoon ultimately found resolution in the final match, where Espada–Barceló managed to tip the game and secure the win.

The game within the game

Polo demands more than technical execution.

It is built on reading the game, coordination and the ability to sustain decisions under pressure. Each play reflects a dynamic that combines speed, precision and control in sync with the horse.

In that context, the score functions more as a consequence than an explanation.

Cap Cana and the construction of experience

Beyond the result, the value of the event lies in what happens around it.

Cap Cana Polo Club operates as a meeting point where sport and social life coexist naturally. The proximity to the field, the layout of the space and the flow of the crowd shape an experience that extends beyond the match itself. There is a clear intention to maintain balance between structure and spontaneity.

Polo as part of a larger narrative

In this context, polo moves beyond being just a sport. It becomes part of a broader narrative tied to lifestyle, tradition and destination positioning.

With the support of the Dominican Republic’s Ministry of Tourism and partners such as CEPM, Ron Barceló, Banreservas, Zoemar Luxury Development and Evian, the Cap Cana Polo Cup continues to establish itself within a calendar designed to reinforce a distinct sense of place.
