A “DOMINICAN ART TOUCH” FOR THE EDEN ROC AT CAP CANA’S 2018 WORLD ART DAY

Article repost from Eden Roc At Cap Cana Blog

While the Arts were celebrated worldwide this Sunday 15th April, Eden Roc at Cap Cana honored the Dominican Art, a colorful and typical local Art we are so proud of. Bringing a taste of Dominican and ensuring a local Art Touch is part of our dedication to support cultural heritage and transmission. As a symbol of peace, freedom of expression and multiculturalism, the #EdenRocArtTouch World Art Day has been made live on the property through kids’ activities and small attentions towards the Guests.

A Dominican Artistic Immersion In The Koko Kids’ Club

To encourage our little guests to better understand the local culture, the Koko Kid’s Club proposed all sorts of ‘’local twist’’ art activities as a way to discover another culture and richness during a playful afternoon. The kids were invited to construe and represent their own perception of the Dominican Art on a mural after being taught and shown typical artworks from the Dominican Republic’s artists by our enthusiastic staff. Typical ‘’muñecas sin cara’’ dolls, Dominican countryside ‘’casitas’’, eye-catching carnival and picturesque landscape paintings… mixed with our little ones’ imagination ended up as colorful palettes with Dominican coffee beans and flowers accessories. A lovely mural was then exposed in the Koko Kids’ club massive tree house for the kids and parents’ greatest enjoyment.

A Dominican Countryside “Casita Típica” Souvenir

This Sunday 15th, in all the Boutique Suites of the property, little colorful ‘’casítas’’ designed by a Dominican artist Margarita Medina, were exhibited as a souvenir to be taken home. This Dominican artwork is a clear representation of the typical Dominican countryside house made of wood and a direct wink to Eden Roc at Cap Cana’s individual architecture: each villa suite is drenched in vibrant tropical colors from cerise to golden yellow to embody the rainbow colors of typical Dominican countryside. To perpetuate a living Dominican cultural heritage and perpetuate a vivid Eden Roc at Cap Cana souvenir in our guests’ memories once back home, this little house embodies and symbolizes the Dominican National Folklore and warmth.

Eden Roc at Cap Cana wishes you an inspirational Dominican Art Touch for this 2018 World Art Day and is proud to be a contributor and showcase & partner of local artists.
