The White Marlin Tournament 2026 returned to Marina Cap Cana this year.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Thirty-two boats participated in this year’s tournament. Anglers traveled from Puerto Rico, the United States, Cuba, Brazil, Mexico, Italy, and the Dominican Republic.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Over the course of the three-day competition, 66 billfish were released, a result that continues to strengthen Cap Cana\u2019s position as one of the leading sport fishing destinations in the Caribbean.<\/p>\n

Of the total releases, 57 were white marlin, three were blue marlin, and six were sailfish.<\/p>\n

Two boats led the White Marlin Tournament 2026<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The boats \u201cP\u00edcara\u201d and \u201cLa Polla\u201d emerged as the standout performers of the tournament, winning the Sonar and Non-Sonar categories, respectively.<\/p>\n

In the Sonar division, \u201cP\u00edcara\u201d earned 1,300 points through the release of four white marlin and one sailfish.<\/p>\n

Xavier Acevedo led the team with 900 points, followed by Juan Carlos Puig with 300 points. Miguelito Benjam\u00edn completed the score with the release of a sailfish.<\/p>\n

Second place went to \u201cFresh Air,\u201d followed by \u201cBandolera,\u201d \u201cAmapola,\u201d and \u201cDear Maker.\u201d<\/p>\n

For the second consecutive year, \u201cLa Polla\u201d dominated the Non-Sonar category with 3,300 points after releasing eleven white marlin.<\/p>\n

Much of that victory was made possible by Dionisio Infante, who contributed 2,100 points, and Cristiano Mota, who added another 1,200.<\/p>\n

An event with international reach<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Beyond the results, the White Marlin Tournament 2026 once again demonstrated Cap Cana\u2019s appeal within the international sport fishing circuit.<\/p>\n

Anglers from seven countries participated in this year\u2019s competition.<\/p>\n

The number of releases recorded throughout the tournament reflects the event\u2019s continued growth across the region.<\/p>\n

The competition also reinforces Marina Cap Cana\u2019s role as host of some of the Caribbean\u2019s most important nautical events.<\/p>\n

Individual awards<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Among the individual awards, Dionisio Infante was recognized as the best overall angler in the Non-Sonar category.<\/p>\n

Javier Ruiz received the award for best overall angler in the Sonar category.<\/p>\n

Yadira Olivo was honored as the tournament\u2019s top female angler.<\/p>\n

During the awards ceremony, Luisa Jim\u00e9nez, deputy director of Marina Cap Cana, presented trophies to the winning boats as well as the individual award recipients.<\/p>\n

With each edition, the White Marlin Tournament continues to rank among the most important sport fishing events in the Dominican Republic.<\/p>\n
