The community came together at Barbudo, a local favorite, to support the Cap Cana Foundation\u2014an organization that has spent nearly a decade developing projects that sustain the natural life of this place: an underwater coral nursery, the rescue of urban beehives, the protection of endemic species, sustainable gardens, and environmental education programs that reach schools and nearby communities.<\/p>\n

The energy of the night didn\u2019t come from the menu or the setting, but from the conversations. The Foundation\u2019s team moved between tables with the ease of people who know their cause intimately, explaining how each rescued hive prevents the loss of thousands of bees, and how native plants are cultivated to reforest sensitive areas. There were no formal speeches, just stories shared up close.<\/p>\n

One of the most memorable gestures of the evening was the honey produced by the hives they care for, available for purchase that night. We took three jars home (because we love it and because it makes an excellent Christmas gift).
