Many Caribbean and Central American hotels and resorts\u2014two of the few areas accepting American travelers amid the ongoing pandemic\u2014were surprisingly well-prepared.<\/p>\n<div class=\"grid grid-margins grid-items-2 grid-layout--adrail narrow wide-adrail\">\n<div class=\"grid--item body body__container article__body grid-layout__content\">\n<p>Many more hotels have publicized their COVID testing offerings since the requirement was first announced earlier this month.\u00a0<strong>All 19 Hyatt hotels and resorts<\/strong>\u00a0across the Caribbean, Mexico, Costa Rica,\u202fand South America\u2014like the\u00a0Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riviera Maya\u00a0and the Grand Hyatt Rio de Janeiro\u2014are now offering two complimentary on-site PCR or rapid tests per room until May 31, 2021, with additional tests also available for purchase.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eden Roc Cap Cana<\/strong>\u00a0in the Dominican Republic is also now offering free PCR and rapid antigen testing in guests&#8217; rooms. The Baha Mar resort\u2014home to the\u00a0Grand Hyatt Baha Mar,\u00a0SLS Baha Mar, and\u00a0Rosewood Baha Mar\u2014in the Bahamas is offering two complimentary, on-site rapid tests per room. Additional rapid tests and PCR tests available to purchase ($17 and $134, respectively). Morocco&#8217;s\u00a0Royal Mansour\u00a0resort has been offering on-site PCR tests for $78 since it reopened in October. And domestic hotels like the\u00a0W South Beach Hotel\u00a0and the\u00a0Chateau Marmont\u00a0are offering on-site testing to comply with certain\u00a0state arrival guidelines.<\/p>\n<div class=\"grid--item body body__container article__body grid-layout__content\">\n<p>The\u00a0U.S. State Department\u00a0announced January 25, ahead of the testing protocol going into place, that \u201cU.S. citizens should reconsider non-essential travel abroad.\u201d It mirrors\u00a0the CDC&#8217;s messaging, that \u201cpostponing travel and staying home is the best way to protect yourself and others from COVID-19\u201d and non-essential travel is not encouraged. For those who do continue to travel, testing plays a major role. Aside from being required to test before returning to the U.S., the CDC recommends getting tested three to five days after your return and reducing all non-essential activities for seven days, even if your test results are negative.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cntraveler.com\/story\/quarantine-after-international-travel-now-required-for-those-arriving-in-the-us\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">International travelers will also have to quarantine<\/a>\u00a0under an executive order, introduced on January 21 by President Biden.
