The twenty-ninth edition of the International Marlin Blue Fishing Tournament will be held from in of Cabeza de Toro with the participation of fishermen and invited clubs from the United States, Venezuela, Puerto Rico and the host country, Dominican Republic.
The announcement was made by the contest director, sportsman and businessman Jharold Maizo, along with Frederich Bergés, who represented the Board of Directors headed by Commodore, José Luis Núñez, as well as members of the fishing committee.
“We have high expectations for this tournament because more than 50 examples of the species have been released in the last days, which is extremely significant. We are hopeful in the climatic situation, we continue to favor to comply with everything planned in relation to the competition and the enjoyment of the community that forms the yacht club in a totally family friendly environment, ”said Maizo.
He added, that in his capacity as director he has achieved a considerable decrease in sargassum or seaweed that had reached the area. He highlighted the usual collaboration of fishermen belonging to the axis between Cabeza de Toro and Macao with the maintenance of sea rafts which has generated a favorable ecosystem, which joined the evaluation of the moon phase analyzed for the time will contribute to the good fishing
The regulation of the event obliges the participating fishermen to comply with the catch & release method which results in the conservation of the species. As proof of this, to validate a captured piece, the correct release registration is emphasized. The organizing committee has included special tools for each release, this time causing the least possible damage to the fish.
For this Thursday the boats must arrive at the docks of Cabeza de Toro and Marina Cap Cana, the only places from where you can leave after searching for the specimens. Friday 9 will be the first day of competition with departure from 7:30 in the morning. Half an hour later the lines may be thrown into the water. The day concludes at 5:00 P.M. The next day, Saturday, the lines will be lifted at 3:00 in the afternoon.
