LA CHIVA GLORIA VISITS CAP CANA

Within the framework of the celebration of the 12th Anniversary of the Centro Leon, the urban art project  La Chiva Gloria will be exhibited for the general public within different Cap Cana locations, six (6) sculptures intervened by renowned artists.

This exhibition is part of the varied schedule of activities being developed by the Centro Leon, for all ages, as a boost to the growth of the arts and encouraging creativity in new generations of artists.

Amaya Salazar, Angel Urrely, Antonio Guadalupe, Iris Pérez, Joseph Pelletier and Moses Pellerano, are the artists who gave life to La Chiva Gloria with bright, bold colors, recreating their different styles in each.

Cap Cana joins select venues for the development of the strategic route scheduled for this important art project, which will be extended in the remaining months of this year and for 2016, by leading art centers, restaurants, galleries, trade  places, among others, in the Great Santo Domingo and within different provinces in the Dominican Republic.

La Chiva Gloria is a project of Urban Art, a global artistic movement, which has been forged for the past 7 years and has as its main objective to contribute to the development of our country through the implementation of actions that incorporate art as part of an integral development of our society, with the aim of approaching the public with the notion that art is part of everyday life and can have direct contact with our identity and cultural heritage. This initiative will have a total of 12 sculptures and seeks to promote a new vision of art and the broad potential that we have in the country.

These sculptures are available for sale. In that sense, people, institutions or companies that purchase will be part of this important project during its route, and will be included in a colored book-catalog, incorporating the profile of acquirers and artists, as well as essays and a summary of the development of the project, illustrated with photographs.

The project also counts with sculptures of small formats in fiberglass, intervened by the artists participating and are available as limited edition collection pieces.

On the other hand, this project has spaces in social networks as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter under the name @LaChivaGloria, in which participants actively reflect their tastes and preferences, as well as highlighting events and visits to cultural sites.

Funds generated by the sale of the intervened Chivas will be used by the Arawak Foundation to support the development, research and dissemination of visual arts and their creators.

ABOUT THE CHIVA GLORIA

La Chiva Gloria was created at the request of the Arawak Foundation by renowned artist Antonio Guadalupe, and made of fiberglass in the 5′ size height by the 5′ width. Each sculpture is installed on an aluminum base to a height of 24 inches, designed by architect Gamal Michelen.

ABOUT THE ARAWAK FOUNDATION 

The Arawak Art Foundation is a private non-profit organization founded in 1993 by Mildred Canahuate incorporated on August 29, 1994 by Decree No. 229-94, created to help strengthen knowledge and the appreciation of the visual arts as essential to the integral development of Dominicans through their entertainment programs, training and cultural dissemination which includes element: exhibitions, courses, workshops, lectures, discussions, seminars, competitions, art fairs, concerts , auctions cultural walks as well as innovative and creative special projects, among others.
